AI Policy
Purpose
This policy establishes ethical, scientific, and technical standards for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the Electronic Journal of Applied Mathematics (EJAM), ensuring transparent, accurate, and impartial application.
General Principles
- Ethical Use: AI technologies may be used only as auxiliary tools for technical purposes, such as language editing, grammar correction, and style consistency. Authors bear full responsibility for all content, including any text, data, code, figures, or analyses generated with the assistance of AI.
- Transparency: Authors must disclose the stages and methods of AI use in their manuscript. This disclosure should be included in the Ethics Statement or in a dedicated AI Use Statement within the manuscript.
- Accuracy: Any information obtained through AI-assisted processes must be carefully verified against reliable sources. Authors are accountable for any inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading content.
- Impartiality: AI technologies must be used impartially. Authors should avoid and disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to AI tools, data sources, or third-party services in their ethics declarations.
- Privacy and Security: Authors must prioritize privacy and the security of personal data when using AI tools. Confidentiality must be respected during data collection, storage, processing, and sharing. Sensitive or confidential information should not be uploaded to third-party AI services without appropriate authorization.
- Citation and Disclosure: AI tools must not be listed as authors and should not be cited as references. The use of AI should instead be disclosed in the Ethics Statement or in a dedicated AI Use Statement, rather than in footnotes or the reference list.
Responsibilities
- Authors: Authors are fully responsible for the ethical and scientific integrity of their work, including any outcomes arising from AI-assisted writing, analysis, or content generation.
- Reviewers and Editors: The editorial team may assess whether AI-related disclosures are complete and whether the use of AI complies with this policy and with the journal’s other ethical policies.
- Updates and Adaptations: This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect developments in AI technologies, scholarly publishing standards, and best practices.
Journal Commitments
- The journal does not use AI tools to make editorial decisions or to replace peer review. Editorial evaluation and publication decisions remain the responsibility of the editors and reviewers.
- The journal supports the ethical and responsible use of AI technologies and seeks to promote awareness of good practice among authors, reviewers, and editors.
